Notes on the work:

Sylinx - the title recalling “Silence” - evokes three phenomena: solitude, silence and meditation.

This piece was composed on the occasion of the inauguration of the “Wax Chamber” by the German sculptor Wolfgang Laib, located near the Marcevol Priory in the Pyrénées-Orientales, 20 km from Perpignan, France. After a fifty-minute climb on a wild trail, the visitor arrives to a secluded place where the artist has had a cave excavated inside a rock. To reinforce its “mystical” appearance, the surface of the cavern has been entirely coated with beeswax, so that its fragrance envelops this space destined for meditation.

It is best to play the work in acoustics that favour resonance.
