Notes on the work:

The spirit of Labyrinth for solo viola has its origin in the idea of “repetition” and “whirling” in a narrow space. Multiple returns of the same musical elements follow one another are creating an impression of rotation always bringing us back to the starting point. In the words of the composer, Labyrinth confronts faith and prudence, qualities required to escape the labyrinth. This very physical piece calls for power and virtuosity one the solo viola’s part, alternating with more pensive passages.
